Not too many years ago my mentor gave a piece of advice to me which to this day I’ve never forgot. If you fail to plan then you are planning to fail. We’ve all had goals over the years going as far back as childhood. Although simple we set a goal and worked our plan to get there…Ever wanted to stay over a friends house but waited until the right time to ask mom? Or that new bike you walked by each time you went to the store, remember how it felt thinking about how awesome it would be riding it around the neighborhood, popping wellies and riding one handed? People would look in awe. Like we already had the bike at hand. We worked all summer to earn enough money to buy that bike!
Our goal was that bike our action plan was to work and save money to buy the bike-It worked! We saved our nickles and pennies, before long we had the money to get that bike.
It doesn’t matter how small the goal is, if we have a vision of what we want, chances are we’ll find a way to overcome the odds and get it done!!
Challenge is we sometimes fall short of our goals when the plan is vague and not focused. If you and I are to life a of passion, we must find out what we want. Once we’ve determined what it is we desire, next step is develop a plan. Remember, it’s different for each of us no two people have the same dreams and goals. It’s what makes the world diverse, and independent.
If we look at success and failure there is only a couple of things which help people to succeed. It’s not in your blood. Is not something your born with. We all have the same ability for success, however our actions determine the results we achieve. In any action no matter how big or small obstacles can appear, how we handle them and how we look at them can make or break our chances for success.
We are entering the last month of the year, amazing how fast it’s going by. Most folks like to start off the year with a bang! yet others are content with where they are, either way for those who seek change and wish to reach their potential now is the time to develop that plan, don’t wait until January to start planning the year, instead start today writing out your goals!
So what is the best plan? full speed ahead or a little every day? perhaps work it on the weekends when there’s more time right? truth is we are all different as well as our ability to practice daily discipline’s to move our goals forward. Some say you must face your fears and go forward, true however for some constant confrontation can lead to a person quitting.
First you must develop a plan that works for you, don’t copy someone’s plan, use your own. Over time you’ll notice a change in your behavior. Think of it this way…If you need to push yourself to work your plan would you do it? How about if you were so excited about what your plan was it kept you awake at night? which plan would you choose?
Find away to write down how you do every day in a diary. I’ve found over the years by writing down your thoughts our subconscious mind helps put those ideas to action. You might have a good idea, why waste it-write it down you never know where it could go, keep your diary/journal close by your side in addition to writing down ideas you’ll also be able to open the book and reflect on past thoughts.
Lastly make time to work your plan, as we talked about earlier we are all different, so write down a time and do the discipline and make it happen.
The new year is almost here, why not make next year your best one yet!
