We’ve all had problems throughout our lives, it’s inevitable, over the years they come and go but…Do they really go away?? Every once in a while a problem just seems to stick around, sound familiar? Challenge is can manifest into many different ways.
Sometimes we tend to make problems much worse than they really are, we think about them over and over again day after day which leads to an endless and negative view of the issue and can last for years if you let it.
Problems can turn destructive-personal relationships-work-or your overall quality of life! If left unchecked they can lead to anger as well as self-destructive behavior or even depression.
But sometimes we think of our problems are “out of our control” some outside force is causing us to suffer…When in reality…If we were to change the way we think the issue would be resolved. Have you ever known someone who is always complaining about their job? Dislikes the boss or people who work there. It’s always someone else who is causing the problem. They frequently change companies seem happy for a few months, and before long tend to be in the same position even at their new place of employment!
At some point there is a connection between which company they choose and their internal problems….Perhaps another way to look at this situation is…Everything happens for a reason and a purpose and it serves you. There is a lesson to be learned here, however failure to recognize this will only lead a prolong period time of frustration. It’s always easier to put the blame on on someone or something and not on ourselves. One of if not the hardest challenge with this is our ability to self analyze why we keep making bad decisions and expect a different result.
One of my mentors taught me this statement.
When you change the way you look at things the things you look at change!
Truth is you can look at a problem two ways. It will either defeat you or define you.
By allowing yourself to make the same mistakes over and over again your allowing a problem to defeat you.
On the other hand looking at a problem as a way to grow and learn helps to define who you are.
So how can you make recurring problems not problems…Here are a couple of suggestions:
Why do you make the same decisions over and over again?
If an outcome is not desirable there could be a pattern which needs to change. At this point you need to take a closer look at your decisions, and your choices. Consider a change in what you focus on, if for example when you get home and immediately turn on your computer which makes you feel connected and in control but in reality could be impacting a relationship with a family member. This is a pattern that needs to change. For a pattern to change you must change the old pattern with a new one. Instead of focusing on old destructive thoughts replace they with new ideas and actions!
Time for a change
Instead of stating nothing seems to work, think about what is working, decide what it is you desire, become clear what you want. There is tremendous power in clarity. In conjunction with clarity there must be a compelling reason for that which you desire as well as a focused strategy for change. Often time’s we’re so close to accomplishing our goal but fall just short of the finish line because we get frustrated and quit. One small degree of change in our psychology can allow us to gain momentum and achieve the results we want! Success is buried just past frustration !!
This week take note problems will always appear in our lives we just need to slow down and decide if we’re going to let them defeat us or define us.
The decision is yours!
