In business today most owners are focused on providing a product with a competitive price point which is quite a challenge due to the rising cost of overhead and daily expenses. For a person with a flavor for being an entrepreneur starting a business can be a bit overwhelming at best. Yet everyday new business are starting all across the country. When looking at existing business models one must question how a small business owner is to be competitive against big corporate companies.
There is much opportunity in the world today, changes due to technology has elevated the work force to perform more work in less time, however along with these enhancements jobs have been eliminated and people have been forced to take jobs which don’t align with years of experience, needless to say some people find themselves working full time for part time pay.
It’s hard to imaging working for the same employer for 30 years in the current job market. Some still do, but most don’t. The question we must ask ourselves is…Do I see myself working for ABC Company for the next 30 years and have a 401 large enough to live comfortable for the rest of my life?
There is endless opportunity for growth now, more and more people are falling short from their financial goals and looking for a way to increase income and live a better life style. However if you talk to a small business owner you might hear stories of long hours with little pay. That might be true for some but not for all. Make no mistake owning your own business is hard work, but if set up correctly you can be in control of the life style you desire.
Owning a business is not for the faint of heart, one day the world might seem to be in your hands and the next…Well that’s a different story. So the question is what type of business should one enter into? I was taught by one of my mentors to focus on your strengths and work on your weaknesses. Figure out what your strong point in life is! It is different for us all, slow down and think about what you would like to do if you could do anything in the world?
If there are components of your business you are unable to do, find someone who is a master at it and hire them. In the beginning you might not be able to afford to hire. There are many successful people who might have done a similar achievement as the one which you desire, find he or she and model their behavior. Read their books attend a seminar or webinar, become a student, learn from mistakes. No one is perfect so don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t go as planned. Be persistent as well as consistent this will help build the foundation for your business.
Don’t listen to those who have been there done that and like to tell you how hard it is to make living owning your own small business. Develop a business plan for which you wish to accomplish in the first year. There will always be a bump in the road along the way, don ‘t quit, success is on the other side of frustration. Your product or service must serve a need. If you you’d like to get rich quick this might not be for you. Truth is nothing can replace hard work and attention to detail. Always be in service to others.
Whenever a client or customer receives your product or service send out a survey and ask questions, feed back good or bad is important in the success of your business. Follow up with phone calls as well as emails, one bad experience can have many negative repercussions which can harm the growth of your business. Keep track of your responses.
Make no mistake owning your own business can be a stressful situation, however with focus on servicing the customers needs as well as proper communication, the chances of a successful business are in your favor.
Only you know what’s best so slow down and make sure the right decision has been made.
The world is full of opportunity
Just waiting for you
