This past week I met happy people everywhere I went…
The grocery store
The gas station
Getting a coffee at Dunkin Donuts
The hardware store
The parking lot
In the elevator
At a meeting
Walking around down town
Buying a newspaper
At lunch with a client
Then it dawned I was getting what I was looking for…Over the years I have learned, what we focus on determines our daily habits. Yet for most people the focus for the day is, get up, get dressed, fight traffic to get to work, hurry all day to get the work done, fight traffic going home, eat dinner, looking back on the day grateful it’s over ! sound familiar ? Instead of being grateful another day of your life is over why not start each day being grateful for another day !!
First
Write 3 things you’re grateful for each day onto an index card, I now have literally hundreds of them, today I wrote:
1) Grateful for my life
When I read this over and over again I never thought about how grateful I am to be here, After all these years I’ve been taking my life for granted…Although I can’t reverse sand upward in the hour-glass of life, from now on I will live this day as if it is my last.
2) Grateful for Sunrise
This reminds me that every day is a new day, never will I be satisfied with yesterdays accomplishments, today the sunrise only happens once and with that all my efforts are focused on my tasks of today.
3) Grateful for yesterdays challenges
As if I’m a student in school learning something new everyday, The only constant in life is change, Whats great about this ? What can I learn from this ? I embrace each as a gift, never feeling discouraged or sorry for myself.
Second
Perform 2 random acts of kindness every day…That’s every day…
1) I was waiting for my cab driver to meet a client, when off in the distance I could see a woman struggling to gather her things out of her car and was walking toward the front door of the building I was standing in, Without delay I ran to the front door and held the door open for her, as she entered into the building she stopped and looked me right in the eye and said…Thank you so much that was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me…I was speechless…
2) We have not had much snow here this winter, however during the last storm, my neighbor was cleaning the snow off his driveway so without delay I went over to his house and shoveled off his walkway for him, when I was done he said to me…thank you so much I was going to do that but my arm is very sore and I’m not able to do another thing…Thank you so so so much !!
Third
Write on an index card a 1-2 sentence “mini-journal” of a positive experience from the day..That’s every day…
Today I wrote:
I’m grateful I can give something to every person I encounter.
Fourth
Exercise…Something we all say we are going to do but for what ever reason we never seem to keep the habit…So I decided to “Make time” to walk…
Fifth
“The Sit:”
Take 15-30 minutes to sit perfectly still, reflect on the day, If we slow down the mind….
You’ll be amazed what’s inside…
In many ways what you’ll experience is…The Law of Attraction…When you put your attention to action results follow…That which we Identify tends to multiply…
Your results will be in direct proportion to your effort…Gratitude..random acts of kindness…”mini-journal” exercise…the sit…
You are the architect of your life…What you think about grows…the more you think about the more it grows.
If time was money how would you spend it !!!
