I’ve been blessed to have been around people who have traveled the world, shared their knowledge, as well as lived a life of purpose. They have earned enough money to take care of their families for generations to come, they have helped people turn their lives around in a positive way while doing what they love each day truly an amazing legacy. Although some are a bit long in the tooth, most have many years to serve. Personally, I’m humbled as to how fast life goes by, time is valuable and must not be wasted. Remember when we were kids we’d look up to our parents who were there to lead us and guide us in the right direction or an uncle, aunt, cousin, friend, teacher, coach or a public figure there are many who left their legacy for us to follow. If you study history there are thousands of people who left their mark on society. Famous sports stars to the first astronaut who landed on the moon, the list goes on and on. While so many have done great things there have also been some who have not done humanity good, however, why not you and I? we have the ability for greatness! In life we sometimes fall into a comfort zone which we follow each day, never challenging ourselves to do more. Do you ever see a hero and imagine that was you? How about the movie rocky? Didn’t you feel the excitement when he was training and getting stronger and stronger? That’s because you have greatness within, just like Rocky, you too can unleash your...

We’ve all heard about time management at some point in our lives, focus on what is a priority and work your plan, the issue is that to-do-list becomes longer and longer. In fact no matter how many things we write down often times we stress if everything does not get done…Sound familiar? If we wrote it down we must get it done…Truth is not everything needs to get finished everyday, it would be almost impossible to complete each task day in and day out. Instead before you end up stressed out focus on the high-priority items, complete them first, if there’s enough time work in the remainder. If you find there’s not enough time to finish those last few tasks, write them in as high-priority items for the next day. Today we’ve been trained to become efficient in the work place which is a good thing for business, however often time can also lead to disappointment, extended work day, little time throughout the day to have a clear thought. We must re-train our brains to believe that it’s ok to not finish everything on the daily list. A new way of thinking as well as new habits. This can aid in our personal growth leading to more productive day. It can also be applied to our personal life. In today’s always on society it can be very easy to find yourself connected to work related issues. We all own smart phones, access to email, phone, text message and many forms of communication. People find themselves working long hours to complete work only go home and answer a few emails,...

In any business, one of the biggest challenges is to ignore the basic elements which are necessary in your current profession. The foundation of all success should always be applied. Professional athlete’s are under constant pressure to perform, every game, meet or competition the basics must always be in order. Same holds true with and profession, carpenter, electrician, secretary, sales, doctor, lawyer, financial services, all must apply the basics each day to be consistent and successful. The workplace is not the only time we should employ these principals, each of us should apply basics in every day life. This is an exciting time of year, the Superbowl is here teams compete to find a slot for the championship! Yet when you study how they train for the ultimate game you’ll find each team utilizes the same principles. Yes a game plane with offense and solid defense is a good strategy, out perform the opponent and your chances for success are increased. We hear about the teams practicing and how hard they are training for that game, however there’s always a basic plan each time they play. Keep the basics in order. It’s been said repetition is the mother of all skill. A weight lifter gets stronger with each rep, a runner develops better time with each run, which makes sense, one challenge with this strategy is what about the mind? Physical strength is developed over time. But how do we develop mental strength? We’ve all heard the phrase mind over matter at some point, however how is that developed? I was at the gym this week working out and through...

Now that the new year is underway and most of us are looking at our goals for the year, there’s nothing like a plan to help us to achieve them right? Often time a to-do-list is written down to keep us focused and on task each day, writing out what needs to be completed make us feel like were moving forward, challenge with the list is often time we stress to complete each item and getting everything done, this drains energy away from focusing on what really matters. Eventually we get discouraged and give up after a few weeks or months. Time management is largely misunderstood, we cannot manage time we can only manage how we utilize time. Instead of stressing out over all the little things on a list create a plan for success. Begin by first eliminating all distractions, shut off the phone, this is one of the biggest distractions/challenges we’re all faced with today, looking at email, social media, text messages etc…etc…Shut off the computer, T.V. find a quite place where you will not be influenced by outside forces. Once your in a quite place think about what your wants and needs are what motivates you? What makes you happy? Sometimes you need to slow down to go faster, determining what is your real motivation will keep you much more focused than your to-do-list. Developing the long plan/big picture allows you to become self motivated and not wait for outside forces to help you get ahead…Have a meeting with supervisor discuss my future…etc…etc. Removing obstacles which hold you back creates energy for motivation. It has been...

With the new year on at our door step all the holiday cheer is coming to a halt, the days are shorter, we get up in the dark and come home in the dark, weekly snow storms, and cold weather is the norm here in the north east this time of year can become a challenge to keep a positive attitude when at work as well as chores and activities which need to be completed each day. We all only have 24 hours a day to “get it done” yet at the end of the day there’s always one more thing to complete. Truth is winter can influence our habits. It’s easy to lean on short day’s and bad weather. However it can be just as easy to develop good habits which lead to a much more productive outcome. Bad habits can appear in many different ways, ever come home from work tired sit down on the couch and keep telling yourself how tired you are? or how much work needed to get done today? only to look up and an hour has gone by and none of the things you wanted have been completed or even started? sound familiar? Most likely your intention was good, but you felt with your current schedule there never seems to be enough time. The key to developing good habits is monitor daily behavior, as time goes by notice when we lean on an excuse as to why a goal was not achieved, we all ave good days and bad to move ahead in life we must begin to focus on good habits...

Remember when you were a child, you’d laugh, play explore, day dream and just enjoy life. Nothing seemed to bother you back then, there were no problems only things which perhaps we didn’t understand…Truth is life was simple and each day was more and more exciting. Our friends would come by and off we’d go for hours only to return home to eat and sleep. Although life was simpler then, we always had a smile on our faces even if there was nothing to smile about. Being motivated to go out side was not an issue. It didn’t matter how tired we were when it was time to hang out with our friends off we went…We’d laugh, smile, run, play, or explore the unknown, there was no end to the amount of energy we had in those days…Right? Today it’s not quite that easy, sound familiar? Being motivated to get out there and enjoy the things we might not enjoy doing is much more of a challenge. Is it the work we do? The people we’re with? Or it could be another reason why staying motivated is harder today. Some would argue life is harder today which is why so many people are unhappy. One might consider how much harder it was not that many years ago. Before technology existed, people needed to get their water from a well, every morning they’d lower a bucket down with a rope and pull up water a bucket at a time, if warm water was needed you would have to start a fire and warm it up over an open flame, if...
